DIY Pom Pom Bunny

Hi everyone, my name is Ashley from ashandcrafts.com and I am very grateful for this opportunity to do a guest post here. I am a brand new blogger who loves everything that has to do with crafts. DIY, home decor, beauty and photography. Today I’m going to show you how to make a pom pom bunny that’s perfect for Easter. My 9-year-old nephew was able to make a bunny along with me as long as I cut out the small details and handled the glue gun part.

You will need:

yarn
scissors
felt
something to wrap the yarn around
glue gun

Step 1: Begin by wrapping the yarn around something stiff like a piece of cardboard. The size depends on how large you want your bunny. For my example, I used a gift card. Do not wrap too tightly because you will need to remove the card later.

Step 2: Continue to wrap the yarn around the card. If you are making a circular shape, such as for the bunny’s head and tail, you want to keep your yarn close together. If you are making an oval shape such as the bunny’s body,, you should spread the yarn out so the bundle’s width is a bit larger. How many times you wrap the yarn will depend on the size of your bunny, the thickness of your yarn and how fluffy you want it to be. In this example, I wrapped the yarn around 150 times.

Step 3: Here is how thick my bundle was relative to the card and yarn size. It is better to overestimate how many times you need to wrap.

Step 4: Once you are done wrapping the yarn, cut he yarn and then cut an additional piece that is long enough for you to tie the bundle with. Place the bundle on the string, and slide the card out of the bundle.

Step 5: Now you should have a cocoon shape on top of your string.

Step 6: Tie the string around the bundle, and make sure it is tight.

Step 7: You should end up with something like this

Step 8: Now insert your scissors in the loops of the bundle and cut them.

Step 9: Do this with both sides of the bundle, until all the loops are cut.

Step 10: You should end up with a ball like this.

Step 11: Trim all over until the ball is even and oval (or circular) shaped.

Now that you know how to make a pom-pom, all you need to do is make 1 large oval for the bunny’s body, 1 medium circle for the head, and 1 small one for the tail. Attach everything with the glue gun. I cut the ears, eyes and feet out of felt. If you want, you could also make tiny pom-poms for the bunny’s feet.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed my tutorial If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you very much for reading and thank you to Leslie for giving me this opportunity.
